It is often overwhelming to believe that any one of us, or even a group of us can get our state government officials, let alone our federal government officials to take action on climate change. That's why our focus is on our local officials. We can have an impact on them.
In fact, they want to hear from you!
And we have a message for them:
Commit to achieve county-wide 100% clean energy before 2035!
Across the U.S. 132 cities, more than ten counties and 7 states, have already adopted ambitious 100% clean energy goals. Six cities in the U.S.--Aspen, Burlington, Georgetown, Greensburg, Rock port, and Kodiak Island--have already hit their targets. These six cities now generate 100% of the energy used community-wide from clean, non-polluting and renewable sources. A city commitment to 100% renewable energy is a mandate for action.
Twenty eight percent of the people in America, 1 in 4, now live in a community covered by a Clean Energy commitment. There is change happening around climate change! Let's make Manatee County part of that change!
Remember, All Politics is Local
In his new book, The Uninhabitable Earth, author David Wallace-Wells explains why it is so important to pressure our elected officials to take action on climate change.
